CHRISTMAS ORDERS

 

Christmas orders for cooked or live lobster are beingtaken now up until 22nd December. We grade them as under 1KG, 1-1.5KG, 1.5-2KG, early signs show that lobsters over 2kg will be scarce and subject to availability.

Unfortunately, we cannot take orders for other fresh seafood as supplies and availability is unknown right until last few days. We will do our best as per previous years. We expect to have plenty of Aussie cooked prawns and bass strait scallops (previously frozen).

Fresh fish will be reliant on the weather the week leading up to Christmas.

Our usual oysters from Tasmania and S.A are in huge demand but we will try our best to have as many available as possible.

We will be open until 4pm or sold out on Christmas Eve.

The Fishermen’s Co-Op was started at the harbour seventy-five years ago when local fishermen banded together to find markets for produce from the Bass Strait: abalone, scallops, snapper, flake (or gummy shark) and our world-famous Southern Rock Lobster (crayfish). Boats today still bring their catch to us here at the last working fishing harbour on the Great Ocean Road. Fisherman of 40 years, Nick Polgeest, who knows a thing or two about lobster, claims our crays are the best in the world and we supply Australia’s finest restaurants and fish markets. But the best place to eat our fresh fish and cray is outside by the harbour in the wind, sun and salty air, overlooking beautiful Apollo Bay.
